About the Designer
Azizah
Alawusa
Born and raised in Nigeria, Azizah Alawusa is a fashion designer, researcher, and creative scholar who focuses on sustainable luxury and telling stories through clothes. She has a rare mix of science knowledge and artistic vision, which makes her one of the new generation of African designers changing how people see bridal and occasion wear.
She originally trained in Biochemistry, then switched fully into fashion. In 2014, she started her label Olabisi O'dunne, making vintage inspired bespoke garments and bridal couture for women who care about individuality, modest elegance, and sustainability. Over time, the brand became known for refined silhouettes, intricate detailing, and emotionally resonant designs that mix African craftsmanship with a modern look.
Azizah is known for her soft architectural draping and timeless feminine styles, and she really cares about ethical fashion. She uses sustainable production methods, deadstock fabrics, and artisanal techniques, and her work keeps asking questions about fashion, culture, and the environment. Every collection shows she wants to make clothes that look good but also mean something.
She now lives between Nigeria and Canada, and she has moved beyond design into research and academics. She has an MA in Fashion from Toronto Metropolitan University, where her research looks at biomaterials, circular fashion systems, African craftsmanship, and new sustainable technologies. Her science background keeps shaping her design philosophy, helping her bridge science, fashion innovation, and cultural preservation.
She has built her brand for over a decade, and she keeps growing through exhibitions, runway shows, research, and international collaborations. She dresses brides and public figures, but she also speaks at events about sustainability and the future of fashion. Her work stays rooted in authenticity, craftsmanship, and celebrating African creative talent. With a vision focused on innovation and cultural continuity, Azizah Alawusa is becoming a unique voice in global fashion.
